PWS Family Day at The Painted Turtle Camp!

Applications for the 20010 PWS Family Day at The Painted Turtle are now being accepted

The Painted Turtle is an innovative camp and family care center for children ages 6-16 with life-threatening illnesses.  Prader-Willi California Foundation has been pursuing The Painted Turtle to provide camp activities for our kids and respite for PWCF family members. We are excited to have been offered another one-day camp experience to introduce this extraordinary camp to our families.  

PWS Family Day will be held all day on Saturday, March 13, 2010.  PWCF parents of a child with PWS ages 6-16 and all siblings of your children are invited to attend!  The camp is located in the town of Lake Hughes in an extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful location within Los Angeles County, just north of Castaic Lake.  There is absolutely no cost to our families to attend the camp!

Some of the activities families will experience include arts and crafts, woodshop, fishing and boating, horseback riding, gym games, and possibly a ropes course! At least one parent must accompany your child with PWS, however we highly encourage both parents and all siblings participate.  All meals and snacks will be healthy and low calorie.  All food sources will be secured.  All camp staff and volunteers will have received intensive training on both the physiological, psychological and environmental needs of kids with Prader-Willi syndrome.  Because PWCF is involved in all aspects of planning and preparation, we are confident that PWS Family Day at The Painted Turtle will provide a safe, fun and memorable day-camp experience for your entire family.  

If you are interested in applying to attend PWS Family Day at The Painted Turtle on March 13, print and return to PWCF your application by mail or by fax no later than March 1, 2010.  Please note that application forms must be completed for each adult AND each child who will participate.
